At 62, Garsett Larosse may seem an unlikely architect of a new economic paradigm. Yet his path has always revolved around one essential question: how can human systems become more life-enriching, more conscious, more beautiful?

Long before sustainability became fashionable, Larosse helped co-create what is considered the world’s first eco-factory, Belgium’s first ecohouse, and one of the earliest circular community centers — living prototypes of a future where ecology, technology and human wellbeing reinforce one another instead of competing.

In 1997, sensing the coming convergence between knowledge and digital networks, he founded WebAssistant, developing early systems for knowledge cooperatives, collaborative learning, and constructivist worldview development. But the world was not technologically ready. The internet could connect people, yet it could not meaningfully augment human consciousness, creativity and experiential intelligence at scale.

The missing ingredient was artificial intelligence.

That changed in 2023.

Suddenly, the computational layer Larosse had envisioned for decades became possible. AI was no longer merely an automation tool — it became a catalyst for human experience itself.

From this convergence emerged FEEL-OS: a radically new platform that treats enriching experiences as the true currency of civilization.

In 1983 was Larosse medestichter van de eerste overkoepelende studentenkrant in Antwerpen: De Antwerpse Student, en functioneerde vanaf het begin als hoofdredacteur en uitgever. De Antwerpse Student organiseerde ook de overkoepelende studentenquiz 'Superbrain' en had een radioprogramma op vrije radio SIS.

Met Student 2000 vzw zou hij enkele jaren later ook het overkoepelende Vlaamse studentenmagazine Student 2000 uitbrengen.

Voor zijn activiteiten als studentenleider werd Larosse verkozen tot één van Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World[3].  (TOYP) door Jaycees   Japan en kreeg hij een audiëntie bij de Japanse   keizer Akihito.

In 1987 werd hij de eerste werknemer van TIJD Electronic Services; de digitale poot van Uitgeversbedrijf TIJD. Bij de TIJD leerde hij werken met videotex (voorloper van het WWW) en tijdens zijn lunchpauzes werkte hij er op de Apple computers van de lay-outafdeling.

In 1989 nam hij ontslag en richtte hij zich op de 'nieuwe sociale bewegingen' als vertaler van de State of the World-rapporten van het Worldwatch Institute.

In 1991 werd hij mede-oprichter van Worldwatch Europe en coördinator van Pauli Publishing.  Hij vertaalde ook ‘Hoeveel is genoeg?’ Van Alan Durning en ‘Duurzame Economie’ van Lester Brown.

In 1992 was hij vormgever van het UNCED-rapport van de Europese Commissie en met zijn bedrijf Ecographics ontwikkelde Larosse de eerste hervulbare verpakkingen voor Ecover.

Hij werkte ook mee aan de eerste ecologische fabriek van Ecover[4] waarvoor hij o.m. de Manual publiceerde.

In 1993 richtte hij het eerste ecohuis van België op, Ecotopia, waarin veel recuperatie elementen werden gebruikt zoals restanten van badkamers, oude tegels, drijfhout en auto-uitlaten, naast tal van biobouw-materialen zoals biokurk, vermiculiet en ecologische verf op waterbasis. De visie achter Ecotopia zou o.m. Harry Schram van het Antwerpse Ecohuis en Architectenbureau Stramien van Kamp C inspireren.

Omstreeks die periode begon Larosse ook te werken als adviseur van KBC Ecofund, het eerste Belgische eco-beleggingsfonds, en werd Ecotopia het hoofdkwartier van European Partners for the Environment (www.epe.be), een Europese samenwerking tussen bedrijven, vakbonden, consumentenorganisaties en milieuorganisaties.

Tijdens een ontmoeting op Ecotopia introduceerde hij Jan Lamers van de TIJD tot de gebroeders Caudron (The Reference), waardoor de eerste professionele website van België ontstond.[5]

In 1994 lanceerde hij in 6 landen met steun van de Europese Commissie DG XXIII het internationale eco-consumptieproject ‘Ecotopia Box’, een kleurrijke recyclage-kartonnen doos met stalen van allerlei innovatieve duurzame producten en diensten, en een educatief spel: De Weg naar Ecotopia.

Ecotopia nv ontwikkelde zich medio jaren negentig tot New Media center, met dealerships van Telenet en Apple computer, terwijl Ecotopia vzw zich organiseerde in diverse werkgroepen rond nieuwe media en kunst, filosofie en (diepte-)ecologie. Samen zouden ze volgens Larosse ‘de eerste virtuele onderneming van België’ vormen, een organisatie van samenwerkende actoren gericht op   duurzame ontwikkeling.

Wat later werd ook nog WebAssistant.com bvba opgericht, dat software produceerde ‘voor een gedematerialiseerde wereldeconomie’. Het ging meer bepaald over coöperatieve kennisportalen en de WebAssistant suite waarmee de constructie van kennisproducten werd versneld. Larosse kreeg hiervoor een subsidie van het  IWT  en werkte o.m. voor diverse universiteiten en de   OESO.

Hij werd tevens Associate bij   Howard Rheingold   Associates[6], een Californische pionier inzake   virtuele gemeenschappen.

Voor snoepjesproducent Van Melle ontwikkelde Larosse de Van Melle Milieubarometer, één van de eerste zero emissions-tools, die hij in het nieuwe millennium als eco-management consultant hielp implementeren in Nederland, Polen, Brazilië en Indonesië.

Tussendoor was hij ook lid van het management-team van zonne-energie-pionier IZEN en begon hij deeltijds les te geven.

Tijdens zijn reizen rond de wereld heeft Larosse diverse eco-communities bezocht zoals.  Auroville.   in.  India   en.  Damanhur    in Italië. Dit inspireerde hem om hierover les te geven en met zijn Didacto-klas van het Atheneum in Westmalle wint hij de   Mondo  Milieuprijs.

Met steun van Minister van Cultuur   Bert Anciaux   verkende Larosse de oprichting van een Vredeshuisnetwerk voor interlevensbeschouwelijke dialoog. De politiek vindt echter geen consensus rond community-innovatie en als Anciaux vertrekt wordt het project stopgezet.  

Larosse verhuist terug naar  Antwerpen  en richtte er in 2011 Made with Love Productions op, samen met zijn nieuwe partner, dans- en yogalerares  Fabienne Huygen.

Onder de naam SpiritPOP[7] produceert hij samen met zijn dochter Calypso 2 CDs met Nederlandstalige, helende nummers.

In 2014 wordt Made with Love Projects vzw opgericht, waarmee sindsdien de jaarlijkse   Body & Soul Festivals[8] worden georganiseerd, gericht op integrale gezondheid en levenskunst.

Wanneer in 2015 diverse consultants en bedrijfsleiders hun interesse tonen om samen te werken rond eco-innovatie wordt WISE opgericht (worldwide integral sustainability expertise) dat aanvankelijk fungeert als observatorium voor duurzaamheid 2.0 activiteiten.

In 2016 wordt een tour door  Vlaanderen   georganiseerd waarbij projecten inzake ecologische en sociale  innovatie  worden geïnventariseerd.

Larosse start het project voor de bouw van een ‘eco-community center’ ter ondersteuning van   eco-innovatie   op lokaal niveau.

Daarbij wordt duidelijk dat het sociale aspect een belangrijke sleutel vormt tot goed beheer van de hulpmiddelen van mens en natuur (material and human resources). Er is nood aan een ecosysteem van elkaar versterkende actoren.

Omstreeks die tijd komt Larosse ook in contact met de TEAL-benadering van  Frederic Laloux. Zijn onderzoek naar succesvol samenwerkende organisaties op basis van de principes van heelheid, zelfsturing en eco-systeemdenken bevestigt de ingeslagen weg.

In 2017 wordt Larosse bestuurslid van Transitie Vlaanderen vzw met als doel de.  transitiebeweging.   te voorzien van eco-community centers voor de ondersteuning van lokale activiteiten zoals   repair ateliers, kringloopwinkels, deeleconomie, co-learn en co-workactiviteiten en workshops inzake   preventieve gezondheidszorg.

Op basis van zijn contactennetwerk dient hij samen met partners zoals   Kamp C   het TEALcenter-project[9] in bij   Vlaanderen Circulair.   dat in 2018 wordt goedgekeurd en in 2019 wordt gebouwd. Larosse wordt projectleider en zoekt verder naar een manier om ecologische en sociale innovatie op lokaal niveau te stimuleren.

In 2019 richt hij We Go Circular vzw op. Naast de vermarkting van het TEALcenter-project ontwikkelt We Go Circular ook een online platform dat aanbod en vraag inzake herstellingen beter op elkaar wil afstemmen. Tevens wordt Community-Innovation.be   opgericht, met als doel lokale overheden bij de projecten te betrekken.

In 2020 wordt dankzij een alliantie met Tomorrowland-leverancier GECO Concept de eerste.  Lifestyle2020. Beleefbeurs georganiseerd.

Het event wordt voorafgegaan door De Nacht van de Ondernemer   met als thema   circulaire economie   en visie-gedreven ondernemen, waarbij o.m. wordt stil gestaan bij de opportuniteiten en uitdagingen van de   Europese New Green Deal[10], die op 13 december 2019 door de nieuwe Europese Commissie werd voorgesteld.

In 2022 richt Garsett in samenwerking met de gemeente Essen De EcoVilla Essen op, met als doel  het voormalige Bosmuseum om te vormen tot centrum voor  Natuurverbinding en Levenskunst.
Een en ander kadert in de creatie van een internationaal platform voor Levenskunstenaars met een belangrijke basis in het Franse Rennes-les-Bains, waar Larosse en zijn echtgenote investeren in de lokale eco-community. Zij richten naast een therapeutisch Bronhuisje ook de Lotus Tempel op en organiseren er yoga en wellness-retreats.

Zijn carrière loopt al decennia en raakt een indrukwekkende mix van duurzaamheid, spiritualiteit, digitale innovatie en creatieve expressie.

Hier zijn de hoogtepunten van zijn pad:

Duurzaamheid & Eco-innovatie

  • Hij co-creëerde begin jaren '90 de allereerste ecologische fabriek ter wereld (voor Ecover) en ontwierp herbruikbare verpakkingen.
  • In 1993 richtte hij Ecotopia op, het eerste ecohuis van België, gebouwd met gerecycleerde materialen en bio-bouwtechnieken.
  • Hij was een drijvende kracht achter Worldwatch Europe en vertaalde de State of the World-rapporten.
  • Later lanceerde hij het TEAL-center, een circulair gemeenschapscentrum voor eco-sociale innovatie.

Media, Technologie & Ondernemen

  • Als student co-richtte hij De Antwerpse Student en Student 2000 op.
  • Hij ontwikkelde een van de eerste professionele websites van België en richtte bedrijven op zoals The WebAssistant Company en Ecotopia New Media Center.

Muziek & Kunst

  • Als componist en producer maakte hij onder andere SpiritPOP en de Leela Soundstation-albums — helende, elektronische muziek.
  • Hij schreef popliedjes die 72 bewustzijnsstaten beschrijven en bracht meerdere boeken uit (onder andere Dancing with the Goddess, Leela 2.0 en The World of AI).

Spiritualiteit & Coaching

  • Diep beïnvloed door Oosterse spiritualiteit, begeleidt hij samen met zijn partner Fabienne Huygen (yogadocente en sound healer) retreats en coachingtrajecten via Healing-Earth.org en TheLifeArtist.org.
  • Hij geeft les in tantra, zelfkennis en wat hij "Leela coaching" noemt — het spel van bewustzijn.

AI en software development

  • In 2024 pikt Larosse de draad van software-development weer op (na WebAssistant) en begint met de ontwikkeling van het AI-augmented Feel-OS platform, gericht op experience economy. Samen met zijn dochter Calypso richt hij Olala-learning.com op, gericht op AI-assisted teaching. Er volgt ook een platform rond holistische gezondheid en voor organisaties ontwikkelt Garsett een aangepast platyform rond XC: Experience Capital. 
  • Tussendoor vindt Garsett nog de tijd om een tiental kleinere applicaties te schrijven, waaronder Vocal Resonator, een revolutionaire tool die iemands gezondheid meet aan de hand van stemfrequenties.

Erkenning

  • Hij werd erkend als een van de Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World door Jaycees Japan en ontving daarvoor een audiëntie bij keizer Akihito.

Kortom: Larosse is iemand die al zijn hele leven probeert te verbinden wat anderen vaak gescheiden houden — ecologie en spiritualiteit, technologie en ziel, ondernemerschap en gemeenschap. Hij is geen traditionele guru of standaard ondernemer, maar eerder een bruggenbouwer die mensen uitnodigt om hun leven zelf als kunstwerk te beschouwen.
